Good Neighbor and General Safety Tips for UNCW Students
Join social media accounts like Next door or your neighborhood Facebook or Instagram page where people share information about the neighborhood. This is a great way to stay updated with crime in the area in addition to having a point of contact with your neighbors.
Install the SafeZone App. SafeZone features include:
- Emergency: Place an emergency call to the nearest 911
- Non-Emergency: Use for building access, vehicle jump-starts, and safety escorts. Reach UNCW Police via call or text
- Report a Tip: Share suspicious activity or helpful information anonymously with the option to add a photo and location.
- Check-In Timer: Share your location with University Police if you are walking alone or feel vulnerable in an area on campus. If you do not clear the check-in timer or if you drop your phone, an alarm will alert the University Police for a response.
- Emergency Notifications: In the event of an emergency, an alert will be sent out with instructions for the user.
